Tribute to David Steen 1928 – 2025
It is with much sadness that we announce the death of our wonderful father David on January 25th, 2025. David (aka DD) was first and foremost a devoted family man and was happily married for 66 years to Mary until her death in 2021. He will be hugely missed by Penny, Gill and Jeremy, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
His working life revolved around the City and he was pivotal in founding the London Traded Options market which later merged with the London International Financial Futures Exchange (LIFFE). On retirement he took great pleasure in family life and in supporting Hampton Court House which the ‘Save the Children Fund’ operated as a home for unaccompanied Vietnamese boat children from 1983 – 1992. David and Mary became mentors to several of the children with whom they remained in contact throughout their lives. He also passionately loved his garden, sport, The Times crossword and Worcestershire sauce!

Thank you David for being a shining beacon when I needed it the most. The positive influence you have had on myself and everyone at Hampton Court House is beyond words, and we will forever remember you for the open-hearted attention you have afforded to our family and the Vietnamese community.
